Un spectacle complet : – un film documentaire « Sur la route de Petrouchka », véritable hymne à une intégration réussie fait écho aux paroles des maîtres de musique et de danse adressées à Mr Jourdain, dans le Bourgeois Gentilhomme:
« Ce sont deux arts qui ouvrent l’esprit d’un homme aux belles choses. ( …) Qui ont une étroite liaison ensemble. » Acte I, scène 2, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Molière.
Ils ont permis non seulement de sortir le jeune danseurcomorien , Ibrahim, de la misère de son quotidien mais lui ont permis de développer son potentiel artistique, d’exploiter et de perfectionner son talent et l’apprentissage des différentes techniques pour maîtriser le langage universel de la danse et transmettre un message d’espoir !
– ensuite, une chorégraphie et scénographie poignantes, « Un autre rêve américain » : rencontre intéressante avec le chorégraphe car l’engagement est total, il va de l’expérience physique et intellectuelle à la dimension scénique en passant par la recherche esthétique et poétique !
La conjugaison de ces différents facteurs a surpris les élèves qui ont découvert ainsi une autre approche de la danse !

The pupils in 4è4 (Form 9 Section 4) attended the play « Another American Dream » on Thursday 20th October with their French and English teachers at the National Theatre of Nice.
Before the play actually started, they watched a short film about one of the five dancers : Hibrahim Hassani. They learnt about his life and how it had always been a dream for him to become a dancer. They also realized that dancing had helped him to avoid becoming a delinquent.
Then, the dramatised dance started. The setting was very poor in order to enhance the dancers’ performance. The actors did not speak but were accompanied by music or an off screen voice reading poetry by famous authors such as Walt Whitman or Allen Ginsberg. One scene after the other, the choregrapher, Eric Oberdorff, tried to convey the idea that there was something different than the American dream we know, that beside the American dream we’ve always heard about, there was another, less glamorous one.
Some pupils were very surprised : « It’s the first time I have seen such a performance. It was very unusual and surprising » Foulques says. « It was difficult to understand the meaning of the play », Aurore says. Anyway, even if it was disconcerting, pupils were unanimous as to the great quality of the dances they admired. They were also sensitive to the artistic means of passing a message on.
